Many people are ill today due to either bad food or poor eating habits. Some body once said it well: “Let your food be your medicine and let your medicine be your food.”
Consider this scenario: you get to a fuel station to fuel your vehicle. The car uses petrol but you allow the petrol attendant to put diesel into your tank. What damage happens to the vehicle?
Many of us behave like the above scenario when refueling our bodies. When you eat junk food or bad food, what are you trying to achieve? You eat to please taste buds at the expense of your health. For instance, health specialists suggest that you should take a maximum of 4 teaspoons of sugar per day including natural sugar found in your food and fruits. But do you know that on average, a can of fizzy drink contains about 7 teaspoons of sugar. Just one can of fizzy drink already contains almost double of daily sugar requirement! No wonder many people suffer from sugar diabetes and high blood pressure. Of late the world is more worried about food and stress related diseases rather than other forms of sickness.
Watch out what you eat. What nutrients do you get? Are you eating a balanced diet? Are you avoiding self-inflicted illnesses?
Eating too fast without thorough digestion is a danger. Look at how patient a petrol attendant is when fueling a car. If he hurries, fuel gets lost. Similarly when you swallow food without thorough chewing ; that food is a waste.
The amount of food you eat per time is also a concern. Do not over eat. Many believe that the stomach has to be full. That should not be the case. You should rather eat small regular meals rather than heavy meals twice or thrice per day. Before sleeping, make sure you eat light meals to avoid your body digesting and working extra hard all night and you work up tired.
Successful people take good care of their vehicles. Similarly, successful people are careful of what they eat and how they eat. Next time you eat, remember how you fuel and care for your car.
Success is difficult without good health. Take care of your body through good food and drink. All the best in your health
