The past, the present and the future

With Dr Wilbert R. Mutoko

31 July 2017

Many people have been taught that in order to become ultra successful, they should focus on the future and forget their past.

However, for you to be ultra successful in life, career, ministry, spirituality, health, relationships, finances, business, school, family, etc., you need to learn from your past, manage your present and work on your future. There needs to be a balance.

If you ignore your past, you will possibly repeat past mistakes or you fail to maximize on past lessons. Similarly, if you ignore your present, you may never set a good foundation for your future. Remember that tomorrow’s yesterday is today. What you do today determines your success tomorrow. In any case, if you ignore your today, how do you survive your present circumstances?

Therefore, I suggest that you forget past pains, but learn as much as possible from the past. Then take advantage of your present and be realistic; thus avoiding just hoping that the future will be great without wise planning and action.

All the best my dear. See you at the top!

FOCUS ON THE PRESENT AND LEARN FROM THE PAST

With Dr. Wilbert R. Mutoko (PhD)

14 June 2017

In every quarter, people are being encouraged with motivational words that cause them to focus on their dreams.

Focusing on the future is very good and I inspire many people to do the same.

However, I have realized that sometimes we emphasize too much on the future and forget about today and even yesterday.

If you ignore your yesterday and today, how do you make your tomorrow successful?

I know that some people propose that we must never think about yesterday for it is past. But, have you ever heard that history has a tendency to repeat itself? There is nothing new under the sun. You and I can still learn from our past successes and past mistakes alike so that our dreams can be more informed and better shaped.

What happens if you forget your today, and instead focus on your dreams? You neglect your present responsibilities in exchange for a future that you have not even grasp as yet.

In conclusion, let us all learn from our past, let us maximize our present opportunities and take daily steps that lead to successful fulfillment of our dreams. Otherwise, we may sit and wait for a better future which may never come.

Retiring with dignity

15 April 2017

Reflections with Dr Wilbert R. Mutoko
RETIREMENT WITH DIGNITY

I get hurt when I see retired people receiving wrong financial planning advice. This leads these senior citizens to be heart broken and die miserable lives. Some of them end up having to beg for any kind of job just to get by.

It is unprofessional for a financial adviser to give advice to a client which only results in benefit to the adviser. However, I believe it is wickedness for a financial adviser to misguide or cheat a senior citizen. Imagine! A young person can make financial mistakes and still have time to recover. But what about a retired senior citizen?

My message to financial advisers – Please I beg you to be professional and stop fleecing people old enough to be your parents or grandparents. Cheating people that have no other option to earn money. These are people that need to relax and enjoy the fruits of their labor, rather than to die in financial misery.

My message to retired/retiring senior citizens – please, you no longer have the time, energy and opportunities that you had in the past. Therefore, avoid seeking advice from unaccredited financial advisers or from friends that know nothing about financial planning. Be knowledgeable. Only get advice from professional people.

Why seek help from professionals? The reason is simple. Same applies to choosing a construction company. While it seems cheap to deal with an unregistered construction company, in the long-run you pay more to bogus construction firms. Never the less, if at all a so-called professional cheat you or misrepresent facts, you can report them to the association and steps can be taken against them.
