Today I decided to answer a major question that people ask me whenever they see me do a new project, or when I unleash my potential in a different dimension.

COMMON QUESTION FROM PEOPLE:

Dr Wilbert R. Mutoko, what do you do?

MY COMMON ANSWER TO THE PEOPLE:

I am a passionate lover of Jesus Christ, a loving husband to one wife Phillis Mutoko, and I am a caring father of three biological children and many spiritual children.

I am a passionate Academic specializing in Leadership, Strategy
& Entrepreneurship, Motivational Speaker, Leadership/Strategy Consultant, Trainer/Speaker on Financial Wellness, Family Builder, Gospel Artist, Blogger, Success Coach, Marriage Coach, Pastor, Actor, and Author.

Thus, all that I do goes to empower people in different ways. But it is one mandate.

COMMON RESPONSES:

Aah! You are a jack of all trades!

You have finished opportunities for others!

Why does one person do all these things?

What will others do?

How do you do all these things?

Where do you get time to do all these things?

CLARIFICATION:

I know that common advice says that you should stick to one thing. That is good advice for most people. But there are a few people in the world who have been blessed with the capacity to do a lot of things without crashing. Such people make money not just for themselves, but to share with others. Such people never get satisfied until they have touched more and more lives. They keep serving humanity until they die empty, having exhausted the gifts which God gave them. They know that gifts are not for them, but to benefit others. They will benefit in the process of being a blessing to others, as a pipe that transports water from point A to point B will never run dry. I am privileged to be one of those people that are multi-talented, and I am also a multi-tasker. My heartbeat is on how I can help others. As soon
as I wake up in the morning, I am always thinking, how can I help more people across the world.

Furthermore, to whom much is given, much shall be demanded. I am not competing with anyone. I compete with myself to finish what I was born to do. So, should everyone do. All of us have work to do to make the world better now and in future.

No one can finish opportunities for others. There is enough for everyone, if you are willing to pay the price. The world of opportunities is like an ocean. Even if you go and fetch water from the ocean using a tanker, there will still be enough for all.

According to the Oxford Dictionary, ‘jack of trades and master of none’ refers to a person who can do many different types of work but who is not necessarily very competent at any of them. Now, if you know me well, you are sure that I am not a jack of all trades and master of none. Whatever I do goes gold. I love excellence. I am an exceptional lecturer, I am an
international author, I excel as a Pastor and family builder, I am an excellent and eloquent speaker/trainer/coach, and our 8-track
Gospel album has been rated one of the best albums so far. Fans say that the album does not look like it is the first. Most fans say that the whole album has hit songs, thus they can not tell which song is the best. Is that what you call a jack of all trades and master of none? The fact that you did not know what other potentials and skills someone has should not cause you to underrate that person.

Antony Robbins controls about 33 companies, but I have never heard anyone call him jack of all trades.

Sir Richard Branson controls about 400 companies, but I have never heard anyone call him jack of all trades.

Dr. Myles Munroe was a pastor, leadership consultant, musician, marriage counselor, motivational speaker, author, etc. but I have never heard anyone call him jack of all trades.

Why do you not call them jack of all trades?

What matters at the end of the day is your capacity to do divers things and do them exceptionally well.

Case closed. God bless you.

100 BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN BOTSWANA PART 2

3rd October 2018

by Dr. Wilbert R. Mutoko (Email: wilbertmutoko@gmail.com)

Ever since I wrote 100 Business Opportunities in Botswana Part 1, I have received several emails and social media comments and questions concerning the opportunities available in Botswana. I count it a privilege to write more about the subject.

Today I focus on opportunities in property. In my opinion, commercial property is oversubscribed at the moment. There are many malls built and others are being built now. However, I am not sure whether Botswana needs more commercial and industrial properties at this juncture. Furthermore, quite a number of shops and offices are vacant.

Therefore, for the sake of this article, I will be writing about business opportunities in residential properties. Over the past decade, there has been an increasing rural-urban migration in Botswana which led to a rise in demand for residential property.

The homes that are in high demand are one-bedroomed and two-bedroomed apartments/houses. To some extent, you will not go wrong with three-bedroomed apartments/houses. However, anything from four-bedroomed and above, which is for the upper middle class and the wealthy, may not be much of a good bet. This is because the number of people in that upper class willing to rent your home may not be many; the majority of people in that band can easily afford to buy homes, hence no need to rent.

If you are considering buying a home or building multi-residential properties, this is the right time. Another area which needs investment is student accomodation. Tertiary students run short of accommodation, hence the high demand for student accommodation. If an investor builds houses for sharing, where students can pay a monthly rental of BWP400 to BWP700 (USD40 to USD70), there is hope for a good return.

There was a crazy boom on the property market for some years until a year or so ago. Before the boom ended, sellers were reaping high rewards from selling homes. However, currently, in Botswana, particularly the main cities Gaborone and Francistown, things have changed. The market is now a buyer’s market. Buyers have higher bargaining power. There are lots of houses being auctioned and generally on sale. Homes are therefore cheaper for the buyers and renters. This could be the right time to buy houses and rent them out and/or keep for resale at an opportune time.

Generally, a rough idea of prices for one-bedroomed to three-bedroomed house ranges from BWP800,000 (USD80, 000) to BWP1, 200, 000 (USD120, 000) depending on the location.

I hope this gives you a hint about the opportunities in Botswana property sector.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

If you know more about Botswana property opportunities, please feel free to share on this platform.

I write as a business person and passionate sharer, not as a property guru. So, please seek professional advice from experts when necessary.

THE PATH WAY TO THE TOP

5th October 2017

With Dr Wilbert R. Mutoko

I could tell you how to succeed in life, relationships, marriage, school, business, ministry, health or career. But guess what, I wish I knew how to tell you how to succeed quickly.

Some things will sure demand time and patience from you. Some level of success will definitely demand sleep away from your eyes. Some success level will inflict pain on your back bone. Some level of achievement will rob you of time to socialize and be yourself.

Similarly, raising well-behaved children is not an overnight success. Nor is building a blissful marriage something that comes by luck. The same can be said about building a great business, career or ministry. It takes commitment over many years.

Some people ask me how I have been able to write books, travel across the continent as a motivational speaker; do corporate training; mentor & coach people; volunteer my services to Churches, prisons, hospitals, orphanages, and homes of disabled; offer free counseling etc, and still I have time for my family.

I wish I could be able to explain convincingly. But it takes willingness to consistently re-invent oneself and being on the move to self-betterment and making a difference in other people’s lives every day.

That is why one of my mentors puts it this way when someone asks him for one nutshell for success in ministry or business, “There is no one nutshell. There are many ‘Naughty shells’. Go and find out.”

What do you think?

Dealing with Challenges

18 September 2017

With Dr Wilbert R. Mutoko (PhD, FHEA)

Challenges will always come to you. However, what matters most is not how tough the challenges are, but rather how you respond to the challenges.

Similarly, seasons of life are not the same. Some people enjoy winter, while others enjoy summer.

Paradoxically, many people neither like summer nor winter. Those are the realities of life.

It is not which season you are in that matters, but rather how you respond to the season. That is why when winter comes, you buy and wear warm clothes. At the same time, when summer comes, you change your wardrobe.

How do you respond to challenges as a leader?

How do react to challenges as a follower?

What about as a team player?

SUCCESS SEMINAR 12 AUGUST 2017

In a bid to help everyone that wishes to attend the upcoming seminars where I am one of the speakers, I have talked to the organizers to help people without cash to attend. I am glad that they have agreed. All you do is to get 4 people to pay and attend one of the seminars, then you get in free. No more reason for you not to attend. Show me your entrepreneurial traits by getting just 4 people to pay, and you are in. You can not miss these seminars. This is where giants are made or polished.

FOCUS ON THE PRESENT AND LEARN FROM THE PAST

With Dr. Wilbert R. Mutoko (PhD)

14 June 2017

In every quarter, people are being encouraged with motivational words that cause them to focus on their dreams.

Focusing on the future is very good and I inspire many people to do the same.

However, I have realized that sometimes we emphasize too much on the future and forget about today and even yesterday.

If you ignore your yesterday and today, how do you make your tomorrow successful?

I know that some people propose that we must never think about yesterday for it is past. But, have you ever heard that history has a tendency to repeat itself? There is nothing new under the sun. You and I can still learn from our past successes and past mistakes alike so that our dreams can be more informed and better shaped.

What happens if you forget your today, and instead focus on your dreams? You neglect your present responsibilities in exchange for a future that you have not even grasp as yet.

In conclusion, let us all learn from our past, let us maximize our present opportunities and take daily steps that lead to successful fulfillment of our dreams. Otherwise, we may sit and wait for a better future which may never come.

ADD VALUE

11 May 2017

With Dr Wilbert R. Mutoko

Do I need to say much about your need to add value to organizations and individuals if you want success?

If you add value to more people, you create a chance to earn more honor, more money, more opportunities, more friends, and more favor.

How much value are you adding?

SAME MISTAKE BY BUSINESS LEADERS

8 May 2017

With Dr Wilbert R. Mutoko

I see business leaders repeat the same mistake over and over again, and it worries me. Some managers expect their staff members to give customers an exceptional experience. But the managers do not give their staff exceptional work experience.

As a leader, if you truly want your team to maximize productivity and to treat customers as they should be treated – as kings and queens, you will have to start treating your juniors as your customers. Then your juniors will go ahead and give a wow customer service to the consumers.

How do you expect demotivated employees to give best service?

How do you expect unsettled employees to give customers a settled service?

Does your team feel welcome in the workplace?

Does your staff go the extra mile because you as the leader go the extra mile to address their welfare concerns?

Are you aware that it is more costly to look for new employees than to keep the existing ones?

If you are ill-treating your juniors, are you aware that instead of them spending time adding value to your organization and to customers; your staff spends time looking for jobs elsewhere?

Are you willing to give your staff an exceptional experience so that in turn they do the same to customers?

I hope you choose to do the needful. Treat your team with honor and see them treat customers with honor. If they do not treat customers well, yet you treat your staff well, then there is no choice, you have my vote to relieve such staff from their duties.

Never tire from chasing your dream

2 May 2017

With Dr. Wilbert R. Mutoko

When you are chasing your dream, people may not understand you. Tough times will discourage you. Adverse circumstances will come your way, but keep your eye on the end result. If you don’t give up, we will soon celebrate with you.

Between February 2014 and December 2016, I embarked on a degree in Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Management. The journey was tough. Many times I thought of quitting. But I kept going because I was looking at the goal. I kept going mainly because of God’s grace. I kept going because of wonderful family, friends, workmates and acquaintances. I am so grateful to all of you and those that took part in my research. You are so precious to me, to Botswana, to SADC, to Africa and the world at large.

Graduation was on 25 April 2017 at North-West University, Mafikeng, South Africa and it was so colorful.

I love you!

The sky can not limit you.

See you at the top!

# From rural boy to Doctor of Business Management.
# All things are possible.
#Time to serve my continent. #Inspiration. # You will make it!
